Onward Christian soldier
I don't want any
I know you mean well
but that's not going
to cut it anymore

My life is not a battle
This does not mean I am an immoral person
On the contrary, I use the brain God gave me
to make informed decisions
on issues affecting our world

An overly promiscuous sexual life is
not practical in this day and age
It has nothing to do with morality

I refuse to hold on to these archaic precepts
with a death grip of unquestioning faith
That kind of faith is an abomination
fitting to neither God nor Man

I just want to deliver the earth
from the scourge of fundamentalism
in the name of humanistic intent
and bipartisanship

Religion should NOT be militant
Pat Robertson is the personification
of all that is corrupt in this world
he should follow Jerry Falwell's good example
and shuffle off his mortal coil
before he does any more damage
to the minds of the impressionable

Narrowmindedness is not a virtue
When Christ said "The way is Narrow"
and that "No man may come unto
the father except by me"
he had a particular context in mind
He was a reformer of Judaism
which he saw as being corrupt and outmoded

All of the great mystics have considered themselves
the sons and daughters of God
It needn't be taken so literally
Take Krishna who considered himself
an Avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu

The Hindus have a trinity as well
Brahma being the father
Krishna (Vishnu) is the son
and Shiva as the holy spirit

Only the lower castes
take the sacred texts literally
This trinity stands for
the principles of Creation,
Preservation and Destruction

Shiva does not stand for destruction
in a literal sense but rather in
a sense of shedding old habits
that are no longer applicable

Consider yourself Enlightened
Go ye into all the world
and preach the good news
Religion should NOT be militant
